lan Proctor dreams of exotic destinations, an end to his financial worries, and some company. Nine months after following his friend Gordon to London, lan is anxious to change his life again. They’re about to be evicted from their squat, he’s on the verge of losing his part-time job, and Gordon, an erstwhile rent-collector, is embroiled in a scam that clearly hasn’t worked. lan goes home with a doctor he meets at a bar another encounter that ends in frustration. Even more disturbing is the violence around and about them: a man thrown from the back of a double-decker bus, and two thugs a little too handy with their fists and paint-stripper.
